Calls from overseas
#11
Charon, this is a great idea! Why didn't we think of that before, ha.
Keep a regular cell phone for normal life and burner for when you have
to input a phone number for "other" needs.
Even using a throw away email is a good idea too cuz just
recently i'm being bombarded with spam emails. Ugh. Confused

so I tell them no thanks and quickly hang up.  They tell me " You previously ordered from our pharmacy this medication or that medication"  I am suspicious that
My past dealings with IOPs may have resulted in my name and telephone number being sold and resold.  They know at least my first name and they seem to know what I may have ordered online??  Anyone else?

I often put them on hold and say i have a call coming in on the other line lol then play the crappiest music i can to them keep going back every once in a while to keep them hanging on.
each time see if you can beak your record Big Grin

I get a call at least twice a week. No joke. Thick accent and always says hello im so and so from xyz pharmacy. I immediately hang up. Im hoping after just hanging up on them constantly they will stop with the phone calls. This has been going on 6 months now... Its just laughable now.

Let me start off by stating that I'm not proud of this.
I know there's a risk that some readers will be terribly offended by my suggestion.
I offer it only to those who have thought long and hard about the ethics of "little white lies".
Or, in this case, telling a GIGANTICALLY HUGE white lie... Dodgy

These calls are easily recognized by us - because they always come from unlisted numbers, around 6-8pm from heavily accented callers.
There is a silent delay of a second before some-one clicks in from noisy a call center asking for "Mr.Richard" saying "it's time for repeat prescription".

At first we tried an angry "Put me through to your Supervisor! Take me off your list!"
Ha! Like that was ever going to work!

We then tried "Ha! That crook? He disappeared with our money - I hope you find him before the Police do...".
We thought that was very creative - and it had absolutely zero impact.

We then moved onto a much more serious untruth.....
"I'm terribly sorry....(slight pause to build dramatic tension) ...Mr Richard passed away late last year. Were you a friend of his?..(hold the silence)...."

And....Ta-Da ! No more phone calls!
Please don't judge us for resorting to this type of behavior Sad
We're terribly honest people in the rest of our lives.
I mean, when a cashier gives us back too much change we always give it back.
(Well, nearly always....  But that's a topic for another thread!"

my god i don't even see the harm with that. I got so fed up with drug manufacturers sending me real mail about drugs for MS, that I finally wrote : return to sender. Recipient died due to usage of your fine product. The estate's lawyer will be contacting you.

I never got the buggery bollocks MS stuff again. I did not want neighbors and nosey landlords to see what i allegedly had. The audacity. Isn't that a violation of HIPPA?

It is something an irish person would say or do. I am irish. Are you?

I have noticed a lot of local type of numbers, ending up being overseas cold calls. My phone will say "Scam Likely" now as the caller ID instead of a number, so there must be a way for these "companies" to use a service that can call as any number and as any area code. My local area code has been used now many times in their calls, which of course there is no way. Anyway, technology has now made ananimity hard to come by.

This one really cracked me up Charon, and that is definitely something an Irish person would say. I am Scotch Irish/Cherokee myself and often overly blunt and sharply sarcastic. I can guarantee your name was taken off the mailing list STAT.
