Hello TVNerd:
Welcome to the IOPList! Much like you, I spent a long time lurking this forum before I became a member. I also spent a considerable amount of time lurking the previous version of this forum, as well as various other forums, before I finally decided to join up. It was a great decision. I have made some genuine friends here, I have been given valuable advice on various topics, and I have learned how to avoid some of the pitfalls that you may encounter on your journey.
Here are a few suggestions which will help you to ascend to full Membership here:
1.) Give credit where credit is due. Thank the Forum Administrators, Moderators, and Pioneer Members for making this outstanding resource available to us whenever and wherever you have the opportunity.
2.) As you post during your vetting period (0-50 Posts) do yourself a favor and read the forum rules frequently, maybe even before every post you make initially.
3.) Read, read, read ... there are thousands of good posts and many, many good threads available to you even as a Newbie. Reading these posts will help you to gain an understanding of the cryptic lingo used here. Once you reach your first 50 posts, there will be much more to learn and much more information available. Use your vetting period to prepare for the transition.
I have a good feeling about you TVNerd. You are a good writer (so unusual online nowadays). I am sorry to hear of all your health issues. Hopefully, you will find help here, and hopefully you can contribute advice which will be helpful to others who suffer with similar conditions.
I wish you the best of luck and look forward to your participation on this Forum.
