The tree had a good life...lots of love and admiration.....ironically it would have stood longer if not for the man made hole....why can't we just leave these beauties alone?
I know damn well that tree didn't want that hole.
BTW, one of our largest Coastal Redwoods (the Advocates tree in Nicene Marks State Park just 4 miles from me) met the same fate during the same storm......it was 45 ft in diameter and 260 feet high....I have been trying to get to it to pay my respects...but the swollen creeks are blocking my efforts.....I found a way in but it is too many miles for me. I can wait for spring or I can ford the stream. At my age....waiting isn't the best choice....but then again neither is fording streams
