Lawsuit: Poor Hospital Care Left Veteran in Vegetative State

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
The wife of a veteran says negligent treatment at a naval hospital left her husband in a vegetative state, and she is suing the facility.

Shon Hollis' wife, Christina Hollis, filed the
lawsuit against Naval Hospital Jacksonville
on Tuesday in federal court.

The lawsuit says Hollis went to the hospital
last summer for an invasive probe in the colon and gastrointestinal tract to find out why he had bleeding.

His wife says in the lawsuit that Hollis was
given anesthesia, despite his history of
breathing problems, including sleep apnea.

The lawsuit also says that doctors failed to
properly protect Hollis' airway during anesthesia and that he stopped breathing,
suffering a brain injury.

Hospital spokeswoman Tammy Begasse says she will comment after viewing the lawsuit.

Just another way we as americans have of showing our vets just how much we appreciate the sacrifices they endure so that we can still enjoy our stupidity. Not even our medical institutions, filled with the best equiptment our money can buy, either can't or won't give a damn.

(the opinion here is my own and in no way reflects the ones of this board and/or staff)
