Lawsuit: Poor Hospital Care Left Veteran in Vegetative State - IceWizard - 07-22-2015 Published July 21, 2015 Associated Press JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The wife of a veteran says negligent treatment at a naval hospital left her husband in a vegetative state, and she is suing the facility. Shon Hollis' wife, Christina Hollis, filed the lawsuit against Naval Hospital Jacksonville on Tuesday in federal court. The lawsuit says Hollis went to the hospital last summer for an invasive probe in the colon and gastrointestinal tract to find out why he had bleeding. His wife says in the lawsuit that Hollis was given anesthesia, despite his history of breathing problems, including sleep apnea. The lawsuit also says that doctors failed to properly protect Hollis' airway during anesthesia and that he stopped breathing, suffering a brain injury. Hospital spokeswoman Tammy Begasse says she will comment after viewing the lawsuit. OpinionH Just another way we as americans have of showing our vets just how much we appreciate the sacrifices they endure so that we can still enjoy our stupidity. Not even our medical institutions, filled with the best equiptment our money can buy, either can't or won't give a damn. (the opinion here is my own and in no way reflects the ones of this board and/or staff) RE: Lawsuit: Poor Hospital Care Left Veteran in Vegetative State - Charon - 07-22-2015 oh, how sad. what really bothers my partner and i, is that wounded warriors are not cared for by the system in USA. they expect citizens to pay monies to help the poor soldiers whom have head injuries and lost limbs. can't one congressman or senator pay for this on his own? can't we get the rich to pay taxes to fund the Wounded Warrior Project? I never dreamed the Veterans Group did not provide any help to those so grievously injured in battle. RE: Lawsuit: Poor Hospital Care Left Veteran in Vegetative State - IceWizard - 07-22-2015 Seems the good 'ole government has always treated our vets horribly ... They give their all for this country, sometimes they lose a limb, sight, hearing, even losing their minds and then there are the ones who never get to see home again, they give their lives! They give everything they have to keep us living the way we're used to and we don't even have to think about it ... It's high time our fine government steps up and cares for those who protect us at all costs and quit "nit pickin" them to death for the few crumbs they get tossed ... Is that too much to ask?? Really?? |
