An urgent, "lifesaving Do Not Drive" warning was issued for many more vehicles.

Nissan is the latest car company to warn drivers.

On Wednesday, Nissan issued a “Do Not Drive” warning for 83,920 vehicles. The warning is related to 2002-2006 vehicles equipped with recalled, unrepaired Takata airbags.

The warning covers:

2002-2006 Nissan Sentra
2002-2004 Nissan Pathfinder
2002-2003 Infiniti QX4 vehicles
"If you have one of these vehicles, do not drive it until the repair is completed and the defective air bag is replaced," National Highway Transportation Safety Administration states.

Honda and Toyota also recently issued "Do Not Drive" warnings.

Toyota Issues "Do Not Drive Warning"

Toyota also recently announced a "Do Not Drive" advisory due to the same Takata airbag issue. Over 50,000 vehicles are impacted.

"Toyota is issuing an immediate DO NOT DRIVE advisory," Toyota states. "Certain airbags found in the subject vehicles are under an URGENT airbag safety recall. Due to the age of the vehicles, if the airbag deploys, a part inside is more likely to explode and shoot sharp metal fragments which could cause SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH to the driver or passengers. Owners SHOULD NOT DRIVE these vehicles until the FREE safety recall repair has been conducted."

Certain model year 2003-2004 Corolla, 2003-2004 Corolla Matrix, and model year 2004-2005 RAV4 vehicles are involved in this recall. The company is urging owners to contact their local dealer instead of driving their vehicles to be repaired.

Canva

"Toyota will repair or replace the airbag for FREE. Toyota is notifying known owners of these vehicles every month through a variety of communication channels. To see if your vehicle is involved in a safety recall visit Toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate information," Toyota added.

Honda has issued a “Do Not Drive” warning for certain 2001-2003 Acura and Honda vehicles. These vehicles are equipped with unrepaired Takata Alpha driver-side airbag inflators.

"If you own one of these vehicles and still have an open Takata airbag recall, do not drive it until this urgent, lifesaving recall has been completed. Replacement parts are available now for free for this recall. Check your vehicle for recalls here," the NHTSA states. "These vehicles are 20 to 22 years old now, and the risk to vehicle occupants is dire.

Alpha airbags have a 50 percent failure rate, officials say. Replacement parts are available now for free.

"If the inflators rupture, the metal fragments ejected toward the driver’s face could kill or leave them with devastating, life-altering injuries," the NHTSA adds in it's warning.

Canva

Honda believes the company has replaced most cars still on the road with the recalled airbags, but officials say it's " absolutely critical that these remaining vehicle owners act now to protect themselves and their loved ones."

Canva

“If you have a vehicle with a recalled Takata Alpha air bag, you must get it repaired now – for free. These inflators are two decades old now, and they pose a 50% chance of rupturing in even a minor crash. Don’t gamble with your life or the life of someone you love – schedule your free repair today before it’s too late,” NHTSA Acting Administrator Ann Carlson. said.

Honda models with these airbags include:

2001-2002 Honda Accord
2001-2002 Honda Civic
2002 Honda CR-V
2002 Honda Odyssey
2003 Honda Pilot
2002-2003 Acura 3.2 TL
2003 Acura 3.2CL
27 Deaths Linked To Takata Airbags

Officials say that unrepaired Takata airbags have an increased risk of exploding.

At least 27 people in the U.S. were killed by a defective Takata airbag that exploded, according to the NHTSA. At least 500 people were injured by exploding Takata airbag inflators.

"Even minor crashes can result in exploding Takata airbags that can kill or produce life-altering, gruesome injuries," the NHTSA said. "Older model year vehicles put their occupants at higher risk, as the age of the airbag is one of the contributing factors."

5 THINGS YOU MUST DO BEFORE ENTERING A CAR DEALERSHIP IN 2024
If you're thinking of purchasing a new car in 2024, take a look at 5 things experts say we must do before walking through those doors.

What You Want Vs. What You NEED. The good news is, if you do your research ahead of time, you may be able to find a vehicle that makes sense both for your budget and your sense of style. And if we're honest, even if we buy that one specific car we've zeroed in on, we know that in a few months, we'll see another one that takes our breath away.
At the same time, we'll still be making those monthly payments on the one we have. Make sure it makes sense for the way you and your family live--and what you can afford.

Spruce Up Your Negotiating Skills. This is a good idea no matter what. Here's the thing: From the car dealers I've known, there's always some wiggling room on the price and to be honest, dealers EXPECT you to haggle a little bit at least.
I know it can be more uncomfortable for some of us than others. But brushing up this skill will make a huge difference.

Do a Little Market Research. Look, I get it. It's so easy to see a car on the road and fall in absolute love with how it looks.
But just like it's best not to judge a book by its cover, when it comes to buying a car, it's a good idea to check other factors, like gas mileage, maintenance costs, and reliability.

Take a Closer Look at ALL of Your Financing Options. Sure, car dealerships usually offer in-house financing--which is great. At the same time, you may be able to get a better deal at your bank or credit union. Explore your options.
As Greg Garrison of GoBankingRates puts it, "Being pre-approved for a loan not only gives you an advantage in negotiations but also sets a clear budget for your purchase."

Get Honest About Your Budget. Yeah, that. I know so many people who have over-extended and get upside down in a vehicle and regret it deeply later after the 'new' wears off.
We want a car that we will love to drive. But buying more car than you can reasonably afford will lead to stress and possibly regret down the road--no pun intended.
