Super Cropping and Stress (myth or truth)
#1
Question
Hello! 420 heads, Medical Marijuana Patients and Care Takers,

If this is not the place to ask, forgive me in advance moderators.

I was reading on super cropping and CO2 and I am just curious on a few things

Have a question to those who are care takers. Who have grown before, etc..

For starters, this is just out of curiosity. Wanted to know if anyone is familiar with the super cropping method?

If so, I wanted to know when it is ideal to do?

Is this something that one does on the first 3 weeks into flowering?

Or does one want to train the girls early in the vegetative state?

Only reason I ask, I was curious about the stress that it induces on your crop?

Can one stress the crop out so bad, that it turns into a hermaphrodite?

Thank you!

I have grown since 1978.. Inside and outside. Ill top Them after they got 4 Real leaves and if need be again when the branches are about 15 cm.. But i all depends on What strain u grow. Sativa..more cropping Than Indicas. But visit Icmag.com..tons of info there. And lastly What space u Got.
Its rare that u Can stress Them..stress allmost only happens when the Light pentrates ur grow space when they are in Bloom when u give Them 12 h. Of total darkness. Cannabis is very Hardy plant and Can take a lot.

Thank you Goyakla1! And yes, I agree on Icmag. Small space no more than 61 cm x 61 cm and a good bit of height, say 183 cm.

I just like this forum the best, due in part by the selective people and the vibe here is just not showy at all.

I had been a member before on ICMAG and I will head back, now that I know it is still going...I would have had to sort through a lot of opinions. Here you got here and blam answered my questions, with more years of experience than anyone that would have given the type of question. So, BIG THANK YOU!

Thank you kindly for clarifying and giving me your data.

Oh and yes, topping is crucial with the space. I understand topping and fimming (sp?)
I was unsure about super cropping, since I noticed that it did help on some of the more heartier
ones. However did not know if this was a common practice among the medical provider community.

Or if it something that one does toward the first 3-4 weeks of flowering.

I can see how the light may have contributed, due in part by times it did not get that absolute dark
period during the first few weeks of flower.

Generally it is GDP or something alike. Next will be B.W. and GSC. Using a tent for this one.

Furthermore, I was curious about the stress being that some were hermies, but that could have been because I found a hermie with sacs, probably 4 weeks into the flower, in the same space. Would that have been the issue?

It was a BIG old school Skunk #5. At least got some good beans from the GDP. Not that it would matter...but there ware only a few hearty beans on the GDP, the PUrkle got the banana's and some pods, ultimately just enough to crap out that one. Still took on the phenotype classic taste more on the GDP than the PU.

So hypothetically, if you are in late bloom and you find some that have already been tainted, but they still look promising. Would one just cut the loss then? Or would one continue till the trichomes reached the desired milky look, amber look, if that is possible?

Only reason I ask, once the female is hermied and there is nothing one can do, does the plant focus on the production of the seed instead of the resin production? Specifically towards the end of the flowering period?

Thank you again!

Thanx bro... I have had hermies ...Can happen with Light leak and if u use female Seeds.. But i try to remove the nannas.. And let it go.. And in the end u Can use the Seeds. It Will NOT use all the energy on Seeds unless its been totally messed up.. But those pestilens which have been seeded Will turn Brown very fast so u Can spot Them .good Luck Smile

You are welcome! Thank you for the clarification. So it was a light leak, cause the GDP got some solid looking beans, only on the outside, maybe a total of 13 beans all big and nice. I mean looks like good genetics. So, the seeds that I got from the GDP, would they still be the same phenotype? Or would it be a toss up? 50/50? I was stoked to have gotten them on the GDP, since that was the best out of the 2 females. It took more of a beating and still came out best! The other was more nannas. Which I did just take off. I collected both beans on each and curing excellent!  Smile

Wished I knew, I would have let them run an extra week. As, of the total, it was a good 12-13 weeks of flowering. The beans from the PUrkle were smaller, but again did not cake the entire center of the colas. Which was just fine!

The GDP took on that traditional magical scent that is hard to pin point. And the colas ended up being 12 g a piece.
Gotta love some good medicine! Thank you for clarifying and demystifying! Now, I know! And knowing is half the battle!

You are awesome Goyakla1! Thanks again!

I top in veg, if they are in flower I bend down the growing tops and tie them down. You want your plants to be under 36" at maturity because the light will not penetrate farther than that and you get the bottom bare or full of useless junk if you let them get tall.

Bending and messing with the stems does make them stronger. One way to do it is have a fan always blowing on them, and gently bend the branches from time to time to make them stiffer.

If the dea reclassifies pot then maybe it will be the end of swat team raids for a harmless plant?

Someone named Uncle Ben gives the best advice for growing.  Goyakla, just curious, is that where you learned the ol topping after 4 main leaves?  It make the plant grow into 2 (or even 4) main colas instead of one.  Also, are you a dirt or hydro man?  I've grown on both and personally like starting in DWC and flowering in aeroponic best.  Only because if I mess up the nutes I can quickly change it.  Dirt is much more forgiving and done right you can kind of set it and forget it, but you have to wait it out to see if your results are correct on both ends.
