Colossians 3:11-16


11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew,
circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian,
bond nor free:
but Christ is all, and in all.
12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God,
holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness,
humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another,
if any man have a quarrel against any:
even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
14 And above all these things put on charity,
which is the bond of perfectness.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts,
to the which also ye are called in one body;
and be ye thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns
and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.



Today's Prayer...


Dear Father in heaven,

Be close to us as we seek you in the quiet of our hearts.
Grant us the strength of your Spirit, the strength to wait patiently
for your help in our lives. Help us to hold to all that is good.
Help us to feel, each one of us, that we are your children and that
we may rejoice in your fatherly care. May your will be done more
and more fully in us and around us. May your will be done so that
we may be given ever greater freeing and your light can dawn
where there is still darkness.

Habakkuk 2:2-6


1 I will stand upon my watch,
and set me upon the tower,
and will watch to see what he will say unto me,
and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
2 And the Lord answered me,
and said, Write the vision,
and make it plain upon tables,
that he may run that readeth it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time,
but at the end it shall speak, and not lie:
though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come,
it will not tarry.
4 Behold,
his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him:
but the just shall live by his faith.
5 Yea also,
because he transgresseth by wine,
he is a proud man,
neither keepeth at home,
who enlargeth his desire as hell, and is as death,
and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations,
and heapeth unto him all people:
6 Shall not all these take up a parable against him,
and a taunting proverb against him, and say,
Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his!
how long?
and to him that ladeth himself with thick clay!

Lord our God,

We thank you that you have come to this earth.
Let a light shine out again and again among those
who hear your gospel, also among those with sincere hearts,
whether or not they are Christians. May they come to
know your light and receive salvation in Jesus Christ.
May your light shine for us and may you appear to us
ever more clearly. Remember all who call to you.
Remember your people.
May your people gather and become a light in your name,
serving you wherever they go.

my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth,
give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled,
neither let it be afraid.
28 Ye have heard how I said unto you,
I go away, and come again unto you.
If ye loved me, ye would rejoice,
because I said, I go unto the Father:
for my Father is greater than I.
29 And now I have told you before it come to pass,
that, when it is come to pass,
ye might believe.
30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you:
for the prince of this world cometh,
and hath nothing in me.
31 But that the world may know that I love the Father;
and as the Father gave me commandment,
even so I do.

Dear Father in heaven,

Accept us as your children,
whose lives are under your protection and
who turn to you for strength.
In the midst of all the struggles and temptations in this
world keep us certain of your love and goodness.
Grant that we may help your name to be honored on earth
and your salvation to spread over all the world.
May we help that the hope you have given us brings light
and strength for our own lives and
for all whom you love in Jesus Christ.

Psalm 128:1-6


1 Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord;
that walketh in his ways.
2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands:
happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
3 Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the
sides of thine house:
thy children like olive plants round about thy table.
4 Behold, that thus shall the man be
blessed that feareth the Lord.
5 The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion:
and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.
6 Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children,
and peace upon Israel.


Today's Prayer...


Lord our God,

We thank you that we are allowed to live in your love.
We thank you for your promise that all the suffering on
earth shall come to an end. Hear us when we turn to you
with all we have on our hearts. We are weak, but you are strong.
May we hope and trust in your strength. May our life,
with all its practical concerns, remain in your hands until the day
when you will act in might and the whole world will know the forgiveness
of sins and will praise and thank you evermore.
