I would cry my eyes out if my doc took away what little amount I get now..
As a matter of fact this month my doc tried to change my kpins from 3mg a day to 2mg
I was sooooo angry.
Anyway I called his office 2 days later and said I'm going crazy and need to go back on 3mg.. He called the pharmacy and changed it back to 3mg.
I don't think he understands I will be on these for the next 5 years at least.

As IS said in the UK its rare to get any kind of benzo, the few i know who get them on a script are having them reduced, some far to fast.
Seems like what happens in the US happens next in the UK.
As for the hospice care, there's been a whole load of bad things happening in some of them here as well.
Sad state of affairs indeed in so called civilized countries with poor health care.

It's definitely more difficult to get scripts here in the US lately. Especially for Alpraz

Yes, I find it hard in the states as well. I had an older doc that scripted me vals for my back spasms, but she retired a few years ago. Since then , I haven't been able to find another dr who approves of that treatment. It's by far the most effective drug for me. I have serious back problems that leave me unable to walk on certain days. The vals improve my quality of life greatly. So that's when i turned to iops and here I am. Thank goodness for the people who maintain this board. Xo

Speaking from an NHS point of view (from the UK), in my experience it depends entirely on the generation of the prescriber.
I'm on a number of psychiatric medications (I'm schizophrenic with severe depressive disorder) and I get given 7 to 14 days worth of 5mg diazepam twice a day each month, and I have to make that last as best I can. Depending on severity, I sometimes get lorazepam instead. I used to have a psychiatrist who was incredibly generous with his prescribing habits (2mg lorazepam three times a day on repeat for nearly 3 years), but my new psychiatrist is young and more anti-benzo so is quite stingy in comparison.
I've moved between NHS trusts and catchment areas quite a few times and every time I have a psychiatrist over 50, I've been given free access to diazepam, lorazepam, zolpidem and zopiclone whenever I needed, and how much I needed. Each time it has been a younger psychiatrist, I've been restricted mainly to diazepam and zopiclone at low doses for no more than 7-14 days a month.
That has been my experience, so I guess in another decade or so, it'll be even harder to get the medication I need to cope. Hence starting the hunt early, as it were.
