Medicare has made a little dent in the kickback part ie I don't see as many docs putting everyone on the same new drug like 20 years ago. But the younger docs are so damn textbook in their thinking, and have it drilled in their heads that they will lose their license if they give anything scheduled.
Having an educated, compassionate doc is key, and starting the process over to find a new one is more than a PITA.
I am going to start a thread on this later, but I'm going through the "new doctor" routine now because I am losing mine to Concierge Medicine. Basically if I want to keep her as my PCP, I have to keep my expensive PPO that she accepts AND pay a membership fee of $2,000 per year that would give me access to her 24/7.
Days of docs practicing thoughtful medicine is pretty much over. Now it is CYA and your files and billings belong to big govt + big pharma. Docs now are happy to make it through the day. Want to see a specialist about a new physical problem and I know if I need surgery...god help me wait times without special insurance is unbelievable.
It's sad to say, but Big Pharma is not about keepin' people healthy. They make no money off of healthy people.
They feed us meds that cause more problems than they help and end up with a customer for life.
Everything in life today is about money and control. THAT is the sickness that needs to change. Is it any wonder why we're all sufferin' mentally and physically? It's exactly what they want.
