Yah good on you for tossing it. Like @Charon said it's not worth risking your life over. We all know someone who has had adverse effects from taking something unknown online. Follow the advice from long term reputable vendors who have reviews that go along with them. When your really unsure then send it off for testing. Glad you made a good choice and not a bad chance.
