I don't wish death or pain on anyone neither do I want to go right now but if I do then so what? If we can do something about it then do it. If not then go about your business.
They say some 100 people were killed in the carribean area by the storm. That is too bad, but since I don't know them, I do not get too worked up or upset, thats life. USA kills probably 100 people every day by bombing them or selling bombs to those who do, such as saudi arabia. Where is the upset, where are the tears for them? Or for the 25,000 some odd who die in an automobile accident in the usa every year? Its too bad but if you dont know them then its just something that happened.
I was speaking against the 'lets panic' attitude I was starting to hear. I say just do what is reasonable and don't worry about it. What is wrong with that? I say do not worry excessively about what happens to others in the world who you don't know. If you can do something to make people's lives better, then do it. If not then don't worry about what you can't change. Can any of us change what the storm did? If the answer is no then don't worry about it. is that insensitive or sensible?
I'm sorry to hear you got hit by katrina, a lot of people did. Our own govt was all thumbs in the matter and should have done things way in advance to prevent what happened. But they didn't. I feel sorry for those people but if its someone I don't know then to me its a relatively small thing. I'm just saying what most people feel but its more acceptable to say you care about everyone in the world. I wish good things on everyone, sunshine and rainbows. But stuff happens and if you agonize over everything you just burn yourself out.
Lets hear it for the thousands of people our government has murdered in the middle east. That is something that can be prevented, mathew could not be prevented. See the difference? I'm too logical I guess, sort of like the vulcan spock. Sorry for being logical and not more emotional. I'm a little burned out just trying to care about things close to me.
Grandote, I agree with you 100% on the horrible things our country does to others. We have become the worlds bullies. Funny how we only mess with countries that have no way of fighting back against us. Our government is trying to take over the world and I believe that is why there are so many terrorists groups that hate us. In a way, can we really blame them? Look at all we have done to them that is terrible. Those countries know what's goin' on with this take over and are fighting to keep it from happening.
Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with how they go about it, but what more can they do against us? We should leave other countries alone to handle their own problems and keep our noses out of it. It's because of the things we do that have them hating us so much. What really gets me is we go over there, blow their country to pieces and then our government uses our tax dollars to rebuild what they destroyed. What we SHOULD be doin' is taking care of our own citizens that are homeless and starving. It's a screwed up world. "Can't we just all get along"?
We need to start caring for others and stop all of this insanity. But as long as we have these criminals running this country, nothing will ever change.
Sorry guys for goin' off in this thread about this. Guess it belongs in the politics thread, but it kinda has to do with our lack of caring about our fellow man. People in other foreign countries know more about what's goin' on here because of our corrupt media lying to us ALL THE TIME.
Anyway, I hope we're still good Grandote. I may not agree with you on certain things, but nobody's gonna agree all the time.
