Well one veteran to another Ice, Thanks for your service! I did my hitch in the Army, a single 4-year enlistment in the (very) early 80's at Fort Ord, CA, never even considered re-enlisting, I only did that hitch to begin with for the G.I. Bill funding for college. Army life didn't suit me very well - But four years of it was worth enduring in order to be able to go to school full-time. Didn't hurt with college football either...Even though I was four years older than the freshman scholarship boys and hadn't played full-tackle since high school, I was able to make the team as a walk-on (probably because of all the PT!), and there's nothing like playing football in Texas - I doubt I'd have stuck with school long enough to receive a degree without football season to look forward to each year. I'm counting the years until I can retire at full social security (15 years to go for me), but the wife and I have already bought land just outside of Tyler (ol' Earl the Pearl Campbell's hometown), and we have a lot of fun fooling around with blueprints for the house we want to build, and planning for the chicken house and the goat and mule pen.
Always great to meet a fellow Texan - We visit my mother in-law there a couple of times a year, I'll raise a Shiner Bock and a Lone Star in your direction from Austin at the end of April!
