shortenings/abbreviations

Being non english the really difficulties are not the shortenings/abbreviations but
is understand the "common saying" ( or the "way of saying"?) and in a speech are several.
like: It's a catch 22, or you are batting 1000, and more..
To read a full post sometimes it takes me more than a hour, switching from google to page, it's frustrating but even funny
I hope this is useful to improve my bad english
