I was honest with my psychiatrist regarding the severity of my generalized anxiety/ocd/social anxiety/generally very high levels of stress, causing “late waking” insomnia in which I would get half to 2/3 a normal (which for me is usually 10-12 hours) nights sleep and then begin ruminating immediately upon waking up and working myself into such a state of anxiety that I could fall back asleep and would just lay in bed till morning fatigued but unable to truly rest. I also told him honestly that (I smoked marijuana way back before medical was even legal in my state)daily in the evenings/the middle of the night to try to at least relax enough to start to combat the sleep deprivation I had accumulated by that point.
Even still, he said that while couldn’t “officially ” condone said coping behavior as an MD without doing further research into the potential medical benefit/risks of daily cannabis consumption, that he thought it sounded harmless and I did not him of someone who is “addicted/abusing” cannabis to their overall health detriment vs. just self medicating the best I knew how, and that I should try taking anxiety medication daily in addition to smoking/even to combine the two for a greeter effect at a lower necessary dosage of benzodiazepines and then gave me my choice of diazepam/clonazepam/lorazepam/alprazolam to be taken ona regular daily basis morning, afternoon, and at bedtime.
If you really need this type of medicine in order to regain & maintain control over your life/improve its quality substantially, by eliminating a significant portion of mental the mental burden that comes with any number of moderate to severe degree of neuroses I have mentioned, as well as for other mental health issues like anorexia, to control PTSD flashbacks/anxiety symptoms, as well as reduce the duration/severity of sudden panic attacks.
All this being said, if you are just seeking a specific substance/class of substances for any kind of “recreation”/“enjoyment” and not legitimate medical need, know that you may fool someone once or twice but in the long run you’re going to end up getting whatever pre-planned/rehearsed “story” you’ve concocted mixed up and contradicting yourself from previous sessions, and when this happens they will very quickly recognize said request / behavior to be medication seeking in nature and will end up sending red flags up among all of your doctors whom have an online medical database/with your entire personal history of controlled substance prescription(s) previously prescribed as well as at present/when you last filled a script. That is neither smart nor sustainable to build a foundation off of lies or exaggerations vs just telling the truth for what your truly need it for and in what context/why.
