RE: Favorite TV shows - IceWizard - 10-25-2016 Hi TG ... Can't say I seen that one, but I kinda like the old episodes of "Absolutely Fabulous" .... Those two girls are hilarious! (that and they remind me of a couple of chicks I do know) ... And Benny Hill ... Not to even mention The Flying Circus ... I just finished watching the whole series on dvd the other day. Has anyone seen the new movie? I don't even know if it's out yet or not, but I am "jonesin'" for more. Patsy is a trip. Cricket RE: Favorite TV shows - G.Elias - 10-25-2016 Shame to see flying Circus' Terry Jones suffering from dementia recently. Is Ad Fab still going?I remember it years ago didn't know they made a film of it. Was looking through channels the other night and found one showing Land of The Giants, anyone remember that? You should check out trailer park boys, magnificently hilariously dumb.Watch out for the trailer park supervisor. Does anyone here actually live on a trailer park?I want to now lol. Logo channel plays Ab Fab sometimes, but there is suppose to be a new Ab Fab movie coming out. BTW Yes, I'm now living in a trailer park and NOT exactly thrilled about it. Never though my life would come to this, but because of many things outta my control, a trailer is all I could afford. Now with only a disability check, it was either the trailer or living in the car. It's ok here and quiet, but far, far, far from the way I have always lived. If it's worrying about making fun of trailer parks that you're asking, I don't care. I laugh at myself for having to be here, but only to keep from crying. I miss my old life soooo much. Cricket RE: Favorite TV shows - barq2 - 10-26-2016 I love the old Ab Fab TV show so much I'm scared of watching the film in case it isn't good! Sometimes comedies are best left alone rather than updated twenty years later. The original was a proper laugh out loud TV show. RE: Favorite TV shows - G.Elias - 10-26-2016 Nothing wrong about living in a trailer park, don't really see them here, maybe they should think about building some there's so many folk sleeping on the streets here now, seem to see more homeless every week. The show doesn't make fun of those living in trailer parks in Canada its just about a group of folk who live there who are just a bit stupid when it comes to crime. It could be set in any location i guess, better you have a roof over your head than being in a car. Are people who live in trailer parks looked down on in the US?if that is so i don't know why. Yep, I kinda think a lot of folks look at trailer park residents as classless and lowlifes. Ya know, the Jerry Springer show type. Lots of jokes about trailer parks, and I have to admit, I joked about them myself sometimes. But boy how certain events in your life that you can't control can throw you into situations you would NEVER dream would happen. After what has happened in my life lately, I'm starting to look at people that live in trailers or in their cars in a better light. I think we judge people without knowing how their lives got that way. Just maybe they were left with no choice like in my case. Sometimes a family illness and deaths can rip away everything you had. It's a tuff thing to deal with, but you do what you have to do to keep goin'.I've been here in this park for a couple of months now and I keep to myself. I haven't met any of my neighbors, but there are a few I'm not sure I want to, but I can't really be judging them since I know nothing about them. HA! Maybe they think I'm weird LOL It's not absolutely horrible here, but I'd much rather be back where I was living. No doubt about it. Cricket RE: Favorite TV shows - G.Elias - 10-26-2016 True cricket, don't judge those who may live differently than the majority for whatever reason they have for living the way they do,how they look, what they live in etc etc....I spent a while living under tarpaulins that were draped over large branches bent to form a dome shape, when i look back now at some of the pics i have it looks like i was some kind of refugee,i eventually upgraded to my own trailer, not a huge one but more comfortable with a decent wood burning stove and a bed not on the floor. Sometimes it feels better to keep yourself to yourself,at some point you'll end up getting to know what your neighbors are like no doubt,if you don't like em keep at arms length. I really wish our government would maybe look at building trailer parks seeing as we have a massive homeless problem, but hey,do they actually give a damn about all those folk sleeping on the streets? If they did folk wouldn't be sleeping on the streets in the thousands like they are at present. Hope you have a good night and it aint too cold where you are.Nights closing in here and clocks go back an hour at weekend. I've noticed a massive increase in people sleeping on the streets in the last couple of years. Some speak very little English, others have told me theĀ "help" available from the state isn't for them. I knew a guy who found the homeless shelter too intimidating. He was simply too afraid to use them and took his chances sleeping in a burned out factory. Other people don't meet some arbitrary criteria and get nothing from the government. I wish they'd make use of all the housing and buildings that stand empty. There are a few schemes where people get to live in a building for free/very cheaply in exchange for looking after it. But most of that is organised online. I seriously doubt you could get one of those if you were on the streets. |
