Optical Illusions ( and stuff like that )
#1
Can you spot the snake? If you do, just say you do
(just don't say just where)
and I'll post the pic that exposes it in a couple-0-dayz

I can't find the snake at all, but I'm sure I'll kick myself when you post the answer... the whole picture will probably turn out to be a snake or something ;-)

Optical illusions aren't simply a fun game, but they also help psychologists understand a lot more about how the human visual system works. If you consider we have two upside-down images coming in, and only the centre is in sharp focus, plus each eye has a blindspot where the retinal nerve exits the back, the brain has a lot of work to do turning that into any kind of comprehensible vision! Did you know that as you turn your head you are functionally blind? The brain does an amazing job of filling in the gaps because you certainly don't notice it. I wish I understood it all better as it is  amazing.

My favorite optical illusions are by MC Esher. But they are also put to good use in movies e.g. making hobbits look smaller than Gandalf in Lord of the Rings - that's (mostly) an optical trick rather than CGI.

I see the snake. Probably bc I grew up hunting and each fall would have to go out to our land and clear all the overgrown brush away; had to be very careful where we were walking!

The pattern on its back is a dead giveaway!

Thanks Ice!

Trippy Illusion. Watch in Full Screen! (TV or Desktop)
Sit in front of the screen and look at the center for a while.
Then watch the things in your room....have fun!
