Typewriters were supposed to put an end to hand writing & most do not even know what a typewriter is today.
Fax machines were supposed to be dead years ago- Japan has the most users still per population and still used by most business today.

etc.

That's why I prefer physical media- DVD, Turntable, video games and TV.- mostly for the love of sound which digital media can't compete with.

Typewriters may be obsolete but keyboards are not. I've read of schools that stop teaching cursive because writing things out by hand is so rarely done.

And, just to be on topic, the NHS in the UK is supposed to be eliminating all their fax machines soon...by 2020 I think. Everything is supposed to go through internal secured email. I don't know what they're going to do about transferring medical stuff internationally to places that haven't phased out the fax and don't have the NHS's email system.
