Abilify, gambling, sex
#1
Don't know who might have seen it on TV, had to lookup on web to make sure I wasn't hearing things.

Abilify has been shown to create an uncontrollable urge to gamble, and sexual compulsion.  I think the minimum loss as I barely have looked at it is $30,000 dollars.  Lawyers are lining up.

The ads are just out, and it may be too late, but point would be to disclaim any knowledge of suit, i.e., trapped in mine explosion, taken by terrorists, gone on religious retreat.

Then of course you must get hold of some Ability, and more money than I have access to, amp up on the Abilify, go to the nearest casino, and play your heart out.  I would suggest three--card poker.  Bet insanely, as you are insane now.  If you win, fine, for once run out the door.  If you loose, have the lawyer number ready and call for help, cry, it will be recorded.

I'm not sure about the sex, not sure whether it's a compulsion for unremitting sex, or an unremitting urge for sex.  Just call and cry, they'll be recording.

Compulsions are many.  I'm sure there is some drug lurking in me that is responsible for ongoing compulsions to eat too much, pee too often, talk to fast.  Sky's the limit.  Who put a limit on it?  I'm gonna' find out.  Somebody's gotta pay.

Yeah, I just had to check again.  I googled "Abilify and gambling lawsuit" and the first enty that comes up is an "ad":  "Talk To An Abilify Lawyer"

This is no joke.  I mean it's a joke in a meta sense, but the lawsuit is real.  I just haven't been taking Abilify, so no use for me--and though I like to gamble now and again, I'm by no means compulsive.   I've known compulsive gamblers, and it's not pretty.  Doubtless, compulsive gamblers have existed long before Ability.  But, if you've lost a wad since starting on Abilify, and didn't have a history of uncontrolled gambling before that, then it might be worth a call.  You would need a paper trail I'm sure, showing losses that correspond with RX use.  The suits will be leveled at  Bristol-Myers and Otsuka America, I would reckon the makers.

If it's not thrown out of court as a frivolous suit, and you can show a correspondence on paper, then I expect you would become part of a class action suit.  I'm not personally in favor of everybody suing everybody.  I'm not sure how they even came up with the connection which would obviously be a side effect.  But, if there is a conclusive statistical link that can be verified, they need to take it off the RX shelves.

It's maybe the most idiosyncratic law suit I've ever heard of, but if the correlation proves out . . . well that's what these jack wagon suits are for.  Easy enough to talk about pigs to the trough when figuring in the lawyers, but if you're a regular Joe with a history of responsible recreational gambling, who has recently lost house, job, wife, etc., as urge has spiked after beginning Abilify.  I think it's fair to look into.

I don't know about the sex part, that's a different kettle.

Hello everyone. Spanky, thanks so much for posting this. It's of interest to me since I had been on Abilify for over 11years. It worked so well for me. For those 11yrs I was getting it free with their patient assistance program. But Abilllify went generic. It would have cost me over $300 a month to pay for it which is impossible at that cost. So nowmy doctor is trying me out on different drugs at different doses. So far none of them is working as well as the Abilify.

I have not had the side effects of gambling or sexual anything.

It's funny that when I told my dad this stuff, he thinks that by all means I should sue over being on Abilify 11 years & that nowv without it my depression is so much worse. I just don't know but it is a fact that I am so much worse without that drug.

I am going to mention this to my doctor & see what she says.

I wish you all the luck in the world with Abilify Ice Wizard & Kadiddlehopper.

Do you find Abilify to be helpful to you both?
This too shall pass. Heart
