I know that there are sites like HealthGrades that provide reviews on medical providers. They are rated on different criteria individually, so decide which is important to you. For example, my preference is a doc that doesn't waste time, writes a script, then sends me on my way. Some people don't like that and prefer a long visit, counseling, etc.

HealthGrades is one site and there are other similar ones out there. That should give you an idea of what is in your area. Look at both the ratings and the reviews.

I hate to say it, but reddit can even be a good source for information depending on your area.

Thanks for the reply MaltFalc.  Id like to know what the members have to say though.  I know there are many doctors in my area but I don't want a websites opinion.

1) THIS is a website, so your second statement doesn't make much sense.
2) It is entirely possible that some of the people on this website have left their opinions on these other websites.
3) This is the wrong forum section for what you are asking. You are in the "IOP" section. Where you need to be posting this is in the USA "Face to Face Consultations" forum section.

My statement about wanting the opinions of members clarify the point I was making.  How would I know that the opinions given on another site are members?  But this post should be in the f2f.

Hey, we got posters in these threads. cool. i reverted to posting songs i could think of.

Ok, guys, may I please make a decision about where this post should go tomorrow?

Just bone weary tired.

I like u both. Respect u both. When I sign off I won't have to worry that war is erupting on the forum.

Have glorious nights. Carry on. I am just not used to so many varying posters in the last few months. So, don't mind me, but, I beg of ye, may I please have some food and liquid now? The warning is that I become more tired then.

If I forget, please remind me tomorrow.

Just one last thing: we are family here. Just not as dysfunctional as our own families were. Hopefully.

I guess either I get used to a more spirited mode of communication, or we go back to just peaceful talk.

I like so many interacting in an adult way. Moreso than a Court room, i tell u what.

Tomorrow, gentlemen, please?

Teddy,
One thing I have found is the Doctors that don't make a habit of leaving me sitting in the waiting room for more than 15mins have always seemed to be a bit more compassionate.
IMHO that web can be a good indicator as to who to stay away from. My GP has zero reviews and he is a darned good one!

Agreed Charon.

Zocdoc, Healthgrades, and Vitals are a few.
BTW the constant posts just to post or up your post count is obvious. At least post in the correct sections.

No kidding.  I dont have the time to post like I did on the other forum so I make the attempts when I can.

Charon, no war is erupting here, at least not that I'm aware of. Just to be clear, I'm not annoyed or upset it @teddy1998 in any way, shape or form, and I hope that teddy (and everyone else) understands that I am only trying to help. Sorry if I came off sounding irritated or bossy. Sometimes things come across a certain way when they are typed, and I wasn't trying to be a jerk. I was just trying to steer teddy in the right direction. Sometimes I am very busy and my posts have to be short and direct to make my point. It's nothing personal, and I hope teddy doesn't think that I was being rude or anything like that. Charon, you can make a decision on this thread whenever you please - you are the one "plucking this chicken", so to speak, so you don't have to justify anything to us. Just do as you see fit. I trust your judgement, not that it would make a difference if I didn't

But I stand by my point that this is not the correct forum section to ask this sort of question. Teddy is asking for recommendations for a good face-to-face doctor in a certain area, and we have a forum section specifically for that. "IOP General Discussion" is not that area.

Teddy, sorry that we couldn't help you more, but you have to realize that this is "IOP General Discussion", so there is not likely going to be much information on face-to-face doctors in your area. I hope that you are able to find a good one using the resources mentioned thus far, and get relief for whatever is ailing you.

Have a great night, all of you. I hope I didn't piss in anyone's Cheerios; I'm just trying to help the already-overworked mods with keeping threads where they belong.

You both have good temperaments otherwise you wouldn’t be here. Wink

Teddy, one thing I have noticed.
The small town or rural clinics seem to be a little more apt to take care of they’re patients needs while I believe the big busy city clinics are more likely to send a guy off to a pain specialist. This has been my experience anyway. My GP Doctor considers this his business. Some of the ones I have seen in town are the exact opposite.
Specialists, surgeons, they don't want to prescribe anything for pain after the first 30 days or so if they can help it. A good GP with some compassion won't leave you in misery.

The last surgery I had, I felt fortunate getting anaesthesia! To that guy it was about getting the job done, and getting paid with the least amount of liability.
Sometimes you will deal mostly with a PA, I actually prefer the physicians assistant where I go. He is more down to earth and uses a common sense approach to problems. I get things explained to me when the Phd wouldn’t say a word, to afraid to incriminate himself I think.
IMO lawsuits have probably done as much damage as over regulation!
Im sure you will find a good one in the MW.
