Suggestions for IOP users:
#1
When ordering from an IOP/ or SY Vendor, you need to take the opportunity to think things through.

1.)   First and foremost, do your research. Read through the multitude of pages available and once you have enough posts t qualify for the member section, continue reading and don’t feel nervous about asking questions. Regardless of what brings you to this side of the world, It is important that we continue to exist as a family.

2.)   Consider any money that you spend to be like going to the casino. Sure there will be times when you win big and are as happy as a clam. However, there are going to be times when you lose your money and receive nothing or something fake.

3.)   Don’t spend more than you can afford. Try and place small orders and grow from there. However, do remember that the nature of our transactions lead to the possibility of losing your hard earned funds.

4.)   If you’ve had a good transaction with someone, comment about it so that others can read what you have to say. This also applies to bad transactions as well.

5.)   Most of the solid IOP’s use one or two types of payment. I prefer one over the other and pay in person with cash. There is no need to leave a paper trail on your computer or other records.

6.)   Be patient. Certain things take time. Make sure to ask your favorite vendor very specific questions about items that you want and if they are in stock and ready to ship immediately.

7.)   Always plan ahead, and don’t be someone that waits till the last minute to place an order. You’re going to feel irritable and the transaction is going to seem like it takes forever.

8.)   My final thought is this, there are both good and evil in this world. Sometimes the good becomes evil. Use your best judgment and go with what your gut says. Best of luck to everyone in this hobby.

I likke the ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS plan ahead. Have a 1 month plan, 3 month plan, 6 month plan & a yearly play. Items go out of stock, you could get fired from your job because you got injured there while it was not your own fault (my current situation) or many other things can come up. Sometimes it is better to choose a vendor who's arrival time is slower but price is cheaper vs a vendor who is super fast (sy) but way more expensive. I have been trying a lot of new vendors here (used to be sy only) but I do not mind waiting a week or 2 for 1/4th the ticket cost and 4x the amount of magazines!!!

Great post, Im new in this game and I did not plan properly and now im out of everything and wishing i had just been a little more conservative. Ive read that holidays slow things WAYYY down but I didnt expect it to happen to me -.- and I though i got in on time but now im in for ~2weeks and everyday is torture. If/when i recieve, ive already told myself im not going through this again so ill be having a plan in place. I like the post about having a 3-month, 6- month etc. Plan, all this stressing is annoying. Im just trying to live lol.

solid advice for sure. I'm new to this too, so all your suggestions are appreciated. I guess waiting out the holiday season is a good idea too then? sorry to hear you're down and out tovictory, but hang in there, it'll come sooner or later, and then you can be a little more conservative next time. As a newb here, if any one else has suggestions to add, I'd like to hear them. Thanks for the great post Mystical.

Except I hope your good lerson didn't turn evil. If he did, can you post the experience?

BTW, it is good to see you again.  Smile

Audrey, I wouldn't consider it Straight Evil, but shades of gray. I'm just trying to provide the lessons I've learned since becoming a member and also provide the positives and negatives so that those who are first entering this hobby will have a better idea of what to expect and of the multiple possibilities and outcomes that can come from an order. Just like a stock can bring you amazing dividends, it can also lose all value. The biggest point that I'd like to make for those who struggle with a potential loss is, don't spend more than you're willing to lose.

I haven't been to Las Vegas in quite some time, but when I did go, I put a side a nominal amount of money that I knew would end up being owned by the casino. This is the mentality that you have to have in order to not lose your mind if something goes wrong.

Finally, do you research, and then do some more. Also, try getting your magazines from appropriate locations in your hometown by establishing networks with your provider. If you end up reading more magazines than your provider is willing to give, take a step back and think about the pros and cons. Most importantly, be safe. I know not everyone is seeking the same magazines, but remember that some magazines can give you "deadly" ideas depending on how they've been printed. "F" is a real issue that you don't want to come across.

Be safe my friends, and be vigilant. And please share your experiences so that we can create a user network experience area to assist everyone from new to old.

One other side note, I'm interested in establishing a testing center for our site. I currently have equipment that will test for the traditionally specific things that can end a lifetime subscription forever. I hope everyone can read between the lines in what I'm saying. If you're going to order a specific quantity, it wouldn't hurt to have a random piece checked for quality control.

Maybe if Charon finds my idea a good one, we could work something out. My main goal is to keep everyone healthy and okay.

This is a great list, all good advice.

But the one item that's helped me out the most is to be patient. 99 times out of 100 it'll work out fine, but I've stopped worrying about when my magazines will arrive. At least I do my best. A watched pot etc.

Planning ahead helps with the patience part because I do my best not to run out of reading material. So it'll show up when it shows up. I'm not the most patient person that ever walked the earth so it kind of goes against the grain for me but I try and do my best.

But it's a great list and it's all worth while.

In the past and I am old guy I used to have some vents as friends we always did some work for each other those were the good old days before internet and FB and all this mails now dominate the job.
So from the opposite view may we must consider the problems a ventor has to face each day. I do remember some suggestions from them if someone want to consider why we talk about the same things all of the time which are :
1) Try to make sure the buyer is who he says he is and not from LE or InterP.
2) Have a supply that meets the demands if you can but delay, delay them when you reach the limit of stock.
3) Always have a most wanted product as advertisement even when you have just 1 item for 100 of orders.
4 ) Hide and silence your job when you have suspicions that you are tracked dont mind the customers the wont have troubles
like life behind bars as you will.
5) There will be loss from post, from customs, from Couriers etc always have a good excuse to say no matter if it is a lie.
6 ) Do not risk to be busted. Disappear asap if you have to do without a trace. You will come back later in business with other
name at the right place and in right time.
7 ) Plan ahead and do not stock items that will not ship soon. Do not waste $ on crap.
8 ) Be vigilant with your sources since they will cause the greatest problems on you and it is the most dangerous part of your job especially with the ones you mess for obvious reasons.
9 ) Create an artificial demand on buyers they will do everything to have their goods.
10 ) Let them know who is in charge , blacklist them without hesitation and hit competition bellow the belt if needed.

Most of us would not survive their job more than some weeks so good is not going into evil for no reason. it is something not good from the start. It is not e-bay or amazon. Lets have sympathy for those who still do the job and face the pressure and danger avery day to keep us satisfied and cozy on our sofas.
