So this isn't exactly current news but I thought it was important and horrific. The Mexican government has no power against what is considered the most technologically advanced and organized of all of the cartels. It took years for Nat. Geo and others to research the incident and find their own sources from inside and outside the government.

As the American empire continues to decline, I think it's possible that the Mexican cartels will eventually invade and serve the same function that the barbarians did for the Roman empire.

The sad thing is that this cartel in question actually has more money & tech resources than the Mexican government. Everyone in the country is powerless against the strength of the cartels.

This is horrible. As a high school and undergrad student in Central Texas, we'd pool our money and drive to Nuevo Laredo, go to a dentist's office, and for $25 get scripts for Di@z, Clon@z, and Alps, walk across the street to the Farmacia, each fill the maximum allowed for import back to the US (and it was a lot - 3 bottles of each), show the Mexican and US border authorities our prescriptions and the meds, and drive on home.
Now police chiefs in towns and cities are murdered within days of their election, kidnappings and murders are rampant, and border towns are completely unsafe.
What a sad situation.

7000+ murders in Mexico this year. If it keeps up at this rate it will be 20K by the end of the year.
