I would also like to add, although this is a natural plant supplement, and generally considered safer than it's pharmaceutical cousins, there are many downsides that may come along with prolonged use. Many within the "k community" like tout this plant as a cure-all with no side effects, but in my experience the opposite is true. I used kratom to cease my previous use of o@iates (to much success), but quickly it became a daily ritual, much like coffee for some. After about 1 year of indulging daily, I experienced excessive weight gain, loss of muscle mass, adrenal fatigue, and my hair had thinned a considerable amount (no, not due to pattern baldness.)
Although the research is limited, there are numerous firsthand reports that this plant (when used for extended periods of time) can drastically lower testosterone levels, cause adrenal fatigue, and even hormonal imbalances. If you plan on drinking this leaf, please see and endocrinologist and have your hormones and testosterone monitored throughout. Kr@tom is by far a safer alternative to pharms, but I consider it a "soft-risk supplement", because in my case, it definitely affected me in BOTH good and bad ways. Just do your research. It can work miracles with kicking an o@iate habit, but it does not come without it's own mild risks.
Final word: I am not a doctor, I only speak on my own experience with 2+ years with this leaf, along along the anecdotal evidence shared by many others in the k-community.
