The actual problem at Oroville is the regular spillway....which is now damaged and has forced officials to use the emergency spillway with is not cement but dirt....and has never been maintained.....the concern is not really about safety as much as it is about environmental harm to the feather river/salmon/wildlife. They are trying to minimize the damage to the "real" (cement) spillway......but we have another pineapple express expected next week.
I have some beautiful crystals I collected in the hillsides near the dam.
On a side note: These heavy rains are exposing more gold in them thar hills........ than since the fold rush....gonna be a great year for gold prospectors.
