Paypal started sucking shortly after they got big. But they were the only game in town so people tolertated the abuse. But that is not the case anymore.
You can now pay on Ebay without paypal. Amazon has now started a similar service that I've heard is almost free. Google has a payment service and as mentioned Circle has used bitcoin to offer paypal services for free. Competition is good, and when the free market is allowed to operate unabated, increasing demands for goods and services will always bring about entrepreneurs with new, creative, and more efficient ways to meet them.
Now if we could just get the government out of the drug market. : ) I like to dream.
