Greetings Apple! A fantastic post to dissect, plenty of material.
The nation of criminals are a serious threat indeed, but not in their force feeding of the Lord's elbow grease to unsuspecting foreigners. It's probably worth mentioning that the true followers of Marmite (Clergy, Acolytes, Warriors, Drones and Prospects.... and yes we are ranked in that order) would never administer it against anyone's will, because that defeats the point. Truth is the bedrock of the Marmite religion. Truth leads to trust, trust leads to love and love leads to assimilation in the gloopy, sticky, powerfully tangy dark goodness. Dare i suggest......Try dipping a slice of apple. The forces of sweet and savoury, so often locked in eternal conflict, call a truce and unite in a meeting reminiscent of soldiers meeting in no mans land on Christmas Eve, 1914.
Where was I? Ah yes, the true threat the island of convicts poses. It is in their sporting prowess. They are a fiercely competitive people, and unfortunately excel at not just team sports but individual efforts as well. Despite their obsession with moustaches and barbequed shrimp, this makes them a serious adversary nonetheless.
I had the privilege of visiting New Zealand when i was 15 years old, for a month over Christmas. My parents had saved up for years and we spent a week with friends who had emigrated and lived near Auckland. We then spent 2 weeks in a motor home, travelling down through North and then South Island, before flying back from Wellington to Auckland to spend the last week with our friends for Christmas. It was incredible. As you say, the people are nothing but welcoming. The country, i have never seen anything like it before or since. We stopped as 3000 sheep decided to cross the road. We saw clouds topple over mountains at dawn. We saw a Maori hakka. We bathed in pools heated by geysers. I was too young to appreciate it really, but i loved it.
As for the deep dive on Jacinda- I'll pass thanks, my wife and I are very happy.
This is the Marmite Warrior, with the Marmite Shieldmaiden reading over my shoulder with eyebrows raised,
Signing off.
