How awful :-( From what they are saying it sounds coincidental - I very much hope that's true because the AZ vaccine is one of the cheaper offerings and therefore likely to be of more use to poorer nations.
There was a scare with one of the vaccines in the UK as someone was ill a few hours after getting the vaccine. However I think it comes down to a numbers game... if you vaccinated millions of older people and those deemed to be at greater risk of COVID (i.e. they have some chronic health conditions), then statistically you will have some people who fall ill or even die on the same day as their vaccine. But I get that it's hardly reassuring for anyone with needle phobia or on the fence about whether to take a vaccine.
