FATHER AND GOOD SAMARITAN RESCUE INFANT FROM NYC SUBWAY TRACK TODAY:
A father’s worst nightmare came true Thursday when his 8-month-old daughter fell onto the tracks at an Upper West Side subway station — but the baby somehow escaped serious injury.
The stroller carrying the baby rolled off the uptown No. 1 train platform at the 72nd St. station around 9:15 a.m., officials said.
A train operator running a No. 2 train across the platform saw the baby fall and reported the incident to the Rail Control Center, said MTA spokesman Shams Tarek.
The father and another straphanger immediately jumped onto the roadbed and hoisted the baby and the stroller to safety, sources said.
