Since technology essentially created this mess, then yes I agree they need to fix it. Carbon taxes would hurt the most vulnerable and not just gasoline taxes, but any taxes on large corporate energy producers as well, because they will just pass the cost on to us. Carbon taxes are a hot button issue and those in power need to tread lightly. Instead of carbon taxes, how about more tax incentives.
The transition is happening, but is it happening fast enough? Most studies give us about 12 years, before the tipping point of irreversible climate damage. Though the Poland summit did get an agreement of 200 nations many see it as too little too late. Interesting that four countries US, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait blocked language welcoming the findings of the global scientific community. The company you keep eh!
