Other suggestions:

Father Ted (1995-1998) - A sitcom about a house with three Catholic priests. One is a gambler, one always drunk, and the third is hilariously stupid. It is funny, but quite gentle. Some of my other suggestions were a bit darker.

The IT Crowd (2006-2013) - Set in the basement of an office these IT workers end up in surreal and ridiculous situations. And the boss of the company is completely mad. Lots of nerd/geek jokes ("Have you tried turning it off and on again?"), but much more about the characters. It is silly, but quite good natured.

The CW has my family wrapped up for the 8:00  time slot from Monday to Thursday. If the phone rings I have to leave the room to talk.....shhhh!

"The League of Gentlemen" was filmed not far from where i grew up,was a great series,not sure if it will be funny for folks in the US?The next series they did,was it called psychoville?With the clown who loses his temper all the time usually in front of a kids party i found hilarious.

I don't want to watch it. But, I am watching the dagnabbit monsters inside me shows.

I feel i can learn something that will save someone. another or me.

But, gross. You gotta really have a need to understand diseases transmitted to humans to handle this show.

okie dokie my friend. but i learned that racoons running in a backyard or playground can cuz problems that can kill a child. i learned that if one swings by a rope and goes into an unknown swimming hole that way, then in that event, a parasite goes up the nasal cavity and wreaks havoc.

normal ones. i still will never watch anyone telling me i have mites or whatever on my eye lashes. way too gross for me.

but, i am also looking up the diseases a chicken coop, left wet and uncleaned, can cuz to those with weakened immune systems. gonna try again on saturday for a diagnosis of me problem.

i shall protect u from the monsters my friend. Promise.

I know we lost the thread about the passing of zza zza? gabor?  

And, i remember a thread by our Ice Wizard that he and his SO are now watching green acres.  Season five.

So, I did post this opening song from same.  Green Acres was Eva Gabor, but I swear I cannot tell a difference.

Hi Boss,

"Green Acres" to me, was the Simpsons before animation.  Anything went.  Eddie Albert said he was amazed at the stuff that got past censors because of the witty insanity of characters and dialogue.  I always preferred Eva as her features were a bit softer, but they were both  amazing looking women.

Definitely ahead of its time in terms of freedom of everything, one critic said, "By the second season, though, Green Acres’ gentle wackiness evolved into outright lunacy."

Perhaps most unbelievably, almost all episodes were written by two men,  Jay Sommers and Dick Chevillat, and most of those by Jay Sommers. 

Skip past season 1, though not bad, and have a look from season 2 on.  It's unlike anything on TV, then or since.
