Anybody using neti for sinus issues?

The thing that has helped me with chronic congestion is Nasacort. It is a steroid spray that used to be RX only but is now available OTC in the US. Left the Afrin behind a couple of years ago thanks to it.

Salty water has no drugs in it and works well. It still eliminates about 80% of my symptoms and I think my sense of smell is getting better too. I'm still waiting on my neti pot, its on a slow boat from china.

I use one and it helps. I have a problem now with a tube going from sinus to my right ear that is causing a lot of pain. The Neti isn't helping this problem. Off to the Dr on Friday!

I've heard about it for a long time but never used it. Well, for the past 10 or 15 years I've had allergy type symptoms, I often have a sneezing fit many days, I will sneeze 3 to 8 times and my nose may run for a while. I could never figure out what did it. It happened year around so is probably not hay fever.

Recently it got worse, it was every day and nose running most of the day. Out of desperation I tried this and it is working. My symptoms have reduced 80 to 90% and I've only been using it a few days. No symptoms yet today. You need a special neti pot, I ordered a cheap one off ebay for a couple bucks. I've been using an eye dropper that holds a few milliliters and tilting my head to the side and squirting it in. Make sure it gets into the sinus area. You want to mix a little bit of salt with the water. They say a heaping 1/4 tsp per 8oz of water. Without the salt it will burn. They say use distilled or purified water not tap water. I never drink tap water anyway, its full of junk.

Look up neti on duckduckgo and see what you think. It should help a lot with allergy symptoms, infections and so on. Its harmless and might help a lot. I use it every day now.
I haven't used it but any fluid in my sinuses I get major sinus infections but adding pulmicort with normal saline and a few flushes has had success. I cant stand sinus infections.

I have found that peppermint oil helps with congestion and sinus. Just put a little on your chest or somewhere and sniffing the vapor does the job. Its good for itching too, just put it directly on the itch.

I just used peppermint oil again today. I was sneezing even after using neti but the oil did the job. Its also said to bring mental clarity and perk you up. I didn't swallow it, just put a dab here and there so I would smell it.

I've used Neti daily in the morning for years to manage a chronic sinus condition.

Have had great success preparing a 50/50 solution of Alcolol and distilled water in a NeilMed pump bottle.

Alcolol is an herbal nasal wash that really gets the job done and the NeilMed bottle makes application much easier.  Both are available at major chain drugstores.

Anyone who chronically suffers with sinus problems might give this combination a try... it has worked wonders for me over the years.

Sorry for spelling error in previous post... its Alkalol, not Alcolol...
