Salt lamps
#21
Heart
Hey all. I have a salt lamp given as a gift. I've had it for about a year and haven't noticed any real changes: no lowered blood pressure, no allergy relief, no pain relief. I've been told it provides no health benefits, but it's pretty and I like the pinkish/orange glow. So, as others have said, that makes me happy and that's enough for me.

Here's a link from Snopes about Salt Lamps that I think covers a lot: https://www.snopes.com/salt-lamps-cure-everything/

I have been to one of those salt places. They seem to be popping up a lot lately, along with those sensory deprivation tanks.

In the glowing Himalayan salt room, you're seated in a lounge chair and provided with a blanket, for about an hour. About six people fit without feeling as if you're on top of one another. The air is cooler and you are told to breathe deeply to get benefits. I found it relaxing, but I only went once with a friend.

A woman we met there said she goes at least once a week bc it had cleared up her breathing issues (COPD, maybe, I don't remember exactly), and she swore by the positive effects for her health. Like I said I only went once and was comfy and relaxed, but not willing to travel to go again. If it were closer, I might have tried it more, but is very expensive. So, second thoughts on that, too.

The woman we met, her health insurance didn't pay for it, so she was paying out of pocket, a lot of dough, bread, mula.

Bottom line for me, salt lamp is different from salt room. Neither really did/does anything physically for me  Mentally, a pretty glow from my lamp and a nice calming break in the room. Not a lot of substantial benefit for me, but that doesn't mean others won't benefit.
