Hi luckydate! I know you've been on here a while, but I'm newish and just saying "hello"! I'm pretty shy too, as well as introverted. I was soooo shy as a kid, I would never introduce myself to strangers, and would have pretty bad anxiety when I had to talk in public. My parents signed me up for a theater class in middle school and I can remember the horror I felt. I was sick to my stomach thinking about how I would have to get up in front of people. The thing was, I loved playing guitar, piano and singing, but I would lock up when people asked me to play or sing to them. I'm a bit better now, I still don't enjoy getting in front of people to talk, but I can do it if I have to. In my previous job, I had to stand up and discuss work with co-workers on jobs quite often, I remember my brain would just stop thinking because the anxiety would take over, sweating, nerves....ug. But, I can do it and kind of hide it, sometimes better than others. I still prefer to stay home and do my own thing, rather than being social, but I'm introverted and need that alone time. Having kids forces me out to socialize though. I would never hear the end of it from my parents as a kid, "just say hi", "smile, you look mad", "speak up"....I specifically remember in middle school a kid making fun of me because the teacher called on me and I wasn't loud enough for the teacher to hear...the bully kid started stuttering what I said to make fun of me being scared to speak up. Crazy how you remember things from your youth. As I mentioned, I'm better now and can hide it somewhat, but today my kid is having a party at school and I'm not exactly looking forward to having to chat with the other parents...not that I don't like them, they are nice and totally fine, but my anxiety starts up and I worry about not being able to hold a conversation...even though, I will, and I can...ug.
Anyway, I hear you. I've been shy all my life, and I know you wrote your initial post a while ago, but I am sensitive to shy people! Have you heard of the book "Quiet"? It's actually about introversion, but it's quite a good book and discusses how introverts are JUST as important in this world as people who are extroverted and have no fear of being out there! Pretty good read! Ok, time to get more coffee, it's going to be a long day! Peace!

It's so hard to find that kind of genuine compassion for one another! I feel extremely lucky to have found such a warm and loving family! Yes-please, I would love to help as well with anything I can, please reach out for anything at all!!
