Carry concealed might have saved my life today - Furyan66 - 10-20-2021 Hello all, Had the scariest moment in my life today. Whenever I can I always go for a 2 mile walk early in the morning at sunrise. I go to a nature preserve in a very good neighborhood and have been doing this for years. Try to get some exercise, get the blood flowing for the day. I always wear my ear buds and jam to some good music while I walk. Today started off like any other day. I was about halfway through my walk when a homeless man came out of the woods and hit me in the head with a bottle which put me to the ground. He then kicked me in the stomach. He took my wallet, phone and even my wireless ear buds. What he did not realize is that I have a carry concealed license and had my gun inside my waistband. While he was distracted going through my wallet, I managed to get my gun out and told the mother fker not to move. He tossed my phone and wallet into the woods and started taunting me that I did not have the guts to use my gun. I kept warning him and then reality set in and he finally realized that I now had a gun pointed at him and I had the upper hand. He then started begging me to let him go, that they would “put him away” if I did not let him go. At that time another person that was walking the trail finally came by and used his cell phone to call the police who came and arrested the man and sent me to the hospital. I ended up with a concussion and some bruised ribs, but God knows what would have happened if I had not been carrying. I was terrified the whole time. I was taught by my grandpa to shoot when I was 5 and am very comfortable with guns but nothing could have prepared me for this. I have never been so terrified in my life and am still shaking. I know my physical wounds will heal but the emotional trauma I experienced is going to be with me for a long time. I never thought this would happen to me as this was in a very good neighborhood, but I see now it can happen to anyone. There had been times in the past that I did not carry on all my walks because inside the waistband is not very comfortable, but never again. My buddies Smith and Wesson will always be with me Be safe everyone, we are living in a world that seems to have gone mad and it CAN happen to anyone. Peace All Fury RE: Carry concealed might have saved my life today - Charon - 10-20-2021 Lord have mercy. I am so glad you are relatively safe and saved. Lord, Heal our Fury. Terrifying. having a gun on one's person, is an awesome tool to have esp when i worked the bronx area with me father. Thank God. You are one of God's people and I praise him for saving your life. Well done, Fury. Lord, get him healed soon I pray. RE: Carry concealed might have saved my life today - Charon - 10-20-2021 We can trust very few to not have been released from a mental hospital this month. May have just been let outta jail. Why does no one help your area? Terrifying. I am so sorry. Get Mace, Pepper Spray or if u can handle weaponry, get a gun. Now. RE: Carry concealed might have saved my life today - Charon - 10-21-2021 bump RE: Carry concealed might have saved my life today - happyvibe - 10-21-2021 Im so sorry you had that experience Fury. Im sure the after emotional effects are as strong as the physical ones. Im glad that you were able to defend yourself. Living in NY these days i see so many unwell people that do no belong on the streets. Prayers for emotional and physical healing. RE: Carry concealed might have saved my life today - Slick - 10-21-2021 Fury!! I am so happy you will recover physically!! But, I pray your emotional wounds heal quickly as well. You are very brave! I probably would have dropped the gun just from the sheer terror of the situation!! One thing I have no experience with is a gun/pistol and I know that being alone I should. Maybe some day. Prayers to you my friend!! May you heal quickly!!! Slick RE: Carry concealed might have saved my life today - Mr. HIND - 10-21-2021 Well that thug fuked with the wrong person and your actions may have saved someones life down the line. These types typically offend more heinously as time goes on and the dude was dangerous and needed to go. The incident could've been much worse. I'm glad it wasn't. And happy you weren't forced to put him out of his misery.. RE: Carry concealed might have saved my life today - IceWizard - 10-21-2021 It is great that you had the means to thwart a situation that could have been much worse, as bad as it was, you came out alive... In Texas, we now have "open carry" ... No permit needed ... Havinf said that, now the "would be's" know who has a pistol and who don't Or do they really .. Glad you are OK and you were able to defuse the situation on your own. Where I live there are no local police so the state police have to respond to all calls with the closest barracks is over 20 miles away from my home. Usually there are only two officers on duty at any one time to cover our whole county, so the only one you can count on is yourself. Since the US is getting to be more like the wild west everyday, open carry sounds like a good solution. I hope your emotional scars also soon heal with the help of the good Lord. Hopefully, they will lock up your attacker without bond to protect others from this apparent madman. RE: Carry concealed might have saved my life today - Furyan66 - 10-22-2021 Greetings all, Thank you everyone for your prayers and concern. I am doing better but I find myself having a hard time not thinking about it all the time. The scariest part was holding the guy at gunpoint. I was so scared that he was going to make some type of move and force me to use my weapon. The 10 minutes or so that it took the police to arrive was the LONGEST 10 minutes of my life. I thank God that he did not force me to use my weapon because if I had I don't know what that would have done to me mentally. I believe ALL life is a sacred and I feel bad even if I step on an Ant. There is a part of me that hates him for putting me in that position but another part of me pities the man since he clearly had mental problems. I can only hope that getting him off the streets maybe saved someone else from having to go through what I had to or worse. Peace all Fury |
