Hi from the PNW - Zobra - 01-29-2018

Hi all,

The world of IOP is new to me.  I seek out solutions to chronic pain I've had in my lower back and hip for 4 years now.  I've tried just about every treatment option including hip surgery, to no avail.  I've not yet asked for a referral to a pain management clinic, and I'm not really sure why.  Part of me thinks that because my pain is only 3-4 they won't take me seriously.  Actually, no, they haven't.  Most I've ever been prescribed long term is Trams, and even those they make me felt guilty for.  I hate going to the doctor and feeling like I've done something wrong by asking for medication.

That's why I feel like I should be able to take control and get what I need to make me more comfortable, especially while I'm working.  It's taken a huge psychological toll on me, this constant pain.  Especially when I'm otherwise healthy and never had any major issues that clear up after a week or two.

So, here's to hoping this leads to good things.  I'm not really sure if I can make 50 meaningful posts or not, but I guess I'll do my best.

Cheers.

Hello,
I hope that you get the pain relief that you need. We are at precarious times in our society medically and it will be interesting to see how the landscape of medicine changes in the years to come

Indeed. All I hear about is how bad the "epidemic" is, which tells me that whatever the rule makers are doing isn't working anyway. Kind of like guns in Chicago, but that's a different topic.

RE: Hi from the PNW - Charon - 01-29-2018

welcome zobra. may u find all u need herein.

the rules: http://ioplist.org/showthread.php?tid=1

We enforce five posts a day until ur first fifty.

My sister and her husband were big shot doctors in NYC. They don't practice anymore cuz of all the rules and regs my sister faced as admin. She could not treat patients the way they needed to be treated.

I have been studying and watching all of this for about a quarter of a century when autoimmunes and cancer hit my family again. This is the most brutal i have seen it in both real life and online.

You don't have to write james joyce vignettes. Just do your best to share, or encourage another whom is desperate.

Welcome to the family.

If all medication was available generically and $$ was not an issue drs could presribe crime would drop pt. Could get releif and big pharma would lose a lot of $$$.JMO

Hi Zobra.

Welcome to here.

RE: Hi from the PNW - Charon - 01-29-2018

http://ioplist.org/showthread.php?tid=1 The rules zorro whom is new.

Rule 1 is to hit the welcome thread. We want to be able to trust you and know u a bit before we share our hard learned info.

Please do so.

But, yes, of course, big pharma has the power and control and only allow about five meds to be prescribed for F*ck all, as eddie izzard would say, and they charge outrageous fees. Many a doctor was terrified of the FDA and then back about fifteen yrs, we had forums to help get doctors outta jail whom were treating chronically ill.

It is that bad again. Doctors don't understand us. They paid a lot to become doctors and want their licenses to stay valid. They don't really care much about us. Those good doctors were helpless and many had charges against them.

It is despicable what has happened in the USA.

Don't get me started on that can of worms...  Welcome Zobra. I am sorry to hear of your chronic pain issues. You are not alone here in that respect. Many of our members deal with chronic pain. The members on iop that last are mostly just like you. Regular people looking for SAFE & affordable healthcare options. Read back through some previous posts. You can try to use the search option with keywords like lower back pain or hip pain. Good Luck! I hope to read your thoughts in the future.
