HAS ANYONE TRIED DUROMINE?! - caramel_barbi - 01-27-2017 Hey guys, Has anyone here ever tried Duromine?!I've read a few posts that claim it should have the same effect as regular Phentermine. I've been taking Dexedrine Instant and Extended Release pills for "treatment resistant depression" for about 6 years. Then, out of the blue, my insurance company decided that they'd only cover the instant release Dexedrine, but would cover a "lifetime" script for extended release Adderall! This happened about 4/5 months ago, and I don't like the combination (Dexedrine/Adderall) as it relates to appetite suppression. The extended release Dexedrine was REALLY helping with my appetite. In fact, many, many years ago it was used as a weight loss drug. I was lucky to get it, because everyone says it's almost impossible to get a doctor to prescribe. My Psychiatrist is TOO cool! Anyway, I've noticed that since the switch, my appetite has INCREASED and I'm starting to gain weight. UGH! Add to that, the fact that I injured my right knee last year, so my mobility has been EXTREMELY limited. But, alas, that's and entirely different topic for a different day.Lastly, if anyone has had any personal experience with taking Duromine, would you mind sharing your thoughts about it?! I'd truly appreciate any feedback that I could receive. Incidentally, I just placed an order today for Duromine, from one of the vendors listed here. I'm new, so I can't state which one in the open forum. However, if everything pans out alright (or if it doesn't) I'll let everyone know how it goes/went. Have a great day!!
RE: HAS ANYONE TRIED DUROMINE?! - Charon - 01-27-2017 Duromine is stronger and better geared toward weight loss. whereas, i never had a weight issue per se, I have the narcolepsy from autoimmunes. My medical doctor sister and her kids had weight issues. She always let me have dexedrine. Not so good for being wide awake. But, again, I eat solid food maybe once a day. To live. Food does not control me. I think ur doctor was negligent to put u on both adderrall and dexedrine. Do they want your heart to just stop? Argh. But, even with health issues, phentermine or duromine works to keep one awake. I hear others say it controls appetite. It will certainly give u more energy. Good luck. But, next time u get two scripts that are both based on speeding up ur system, research them online or via a PDR, physicians desk reference. You are lucky nothing went awry having u on both of those meds. But, Dexdrine/Adderall combination is actually quite common in treating "treatment resistant depression" and Adult ADD. With you being a person that has Narcolepsy, I've no doubt that you possess a deep knowledge regarding stimulant medications, no? Therefore, I'm sure that you do realize that Adderall is similar to Dexedrine in many ways. The difference lies in the ingredients, where Dexedrine is but one of the ingredients in Adderall, and the others being a combination of various "salts." Ingredient-wise, Dexedrine is more "pure" than Adderall, hence, it would be considered the stronger drug. Please, allow me to clarify what/how I was taking my meds prior to the change and after. Initially, before the switch, I was prescribed BOTH Dexedrine instant and extended release pills. Also note, that I'm on the 5 mg instant release tablets, and often take ONLY those throughout the day. But, I was also prescribed the 15 mg extended release capsules of Dexedrine (15 mg is the highest mg available for xr Dexedrine). So, the way I'd take my medications varied according to my daily activities, etc. If it was going to be a busy day, I'd take one 15 mg Dexedrine xr capsule upon waking, and follow-up a few hours later with a 5 mg Dexedrine IR tablet. If it was an exceptionally hectic day, I'd take another 15 mg xr Dexedrine in the early afternoon. The only change to my current regimen, is that I now take the xr Adderall instead of the xr Dexedrine capsule. Oh, and I've actually found the xr Adderall to be SO much weaker than the xr Dexedrine! So much so, that I now alternate between the 15 mg and 20 mg xr Adderall throughout the day. I was more motivated when taking the 2 versions of Dexedrine, previously prescribe. Finally, being that you suffer from Narcolepsy, I'm sure that you most likely have experienced the ole "trial and error" frustration of trying to find the RIGHT stimulant, before you eventually "struck gold", so to speak. Well, I felt as though I'd "struck gold" before I was forced to switch to Adderall! At any rate, I certainly appreciate your concern as it relates to possible heart issues, which incidentally, is a possibility will ALL stimulants. But, trust me, I did extensive research on the Dexedrine/Adderall combination and found many forums with individuals on that specific combination. Not the "usual" combination, but still, not unheard of with stimulants. Lastly, I haven't taken Phentermine in literally decades (yes, I'm old, lol). But, boy when I did take it, it was always the extended release capsules that worked for me. You know the ones, dark blue on one end and clear on the other with the little beads inside. They gave me energy like nobody's business and my appetite was almost non-existent. I loved those little capsules! I hope that you're right about the Duromine, and that they have a similar effect. That's what I don't like about the Adderall, also; they don't give me ANY energy!!! Thanks again for your response to my question. I appreciate you. ![]() S/N: I forgot to mention, that my Psychiatrist has me take an EKG twice a year and also checks my blood pressure at each appointment. He's VERY careful and won't hesitate to discontinue something if he finds that it's too dangerous. RE: HAS ANYONE TRIED DUROMINE?! - Charon - 01-28-2017 well, good to know. i no longer actively seek doctors unless a new and serious symptom pops up. i have disability with no hope of recovery. so, i avoid all these types of meds now. They were from my past. But, glad to hear u are under doctor supervision. I'm sorry to learn that you have a disability "with no hope of recovery." Yet, in facing that fact, from what I can tell by your comments here, you appear to be coping quite well. One would never guess by your upbeat and positive attitude, that you were dealing with serious medical issues. That speaks volumes about your character and your mindset. I commend you for that! I won't go into detail in this open forum, but I recently have been "labeled" disabled. I had a few surgeries in 2014 that have left me with constant pelvic and back pain. On top of that, I suffer from Asthma, which came about after working in a Chemical Plant 12 years ago! I have Osteoarthitis in my neck, knees and shoulder that gets quite painful at times, as well. But, I try to stay away from pain meds and simply try to "suck it up",other than using anti-inflammatories for swelling. Well, enough of all of that, because like many here I could go on for days about my "issues." Again, thank you for you responses to my initial questions. Be Blessed!
RE: HAS ANYONE TRIED DUROMINE?! - Charon - 01-28-2017 When u have pain in your back, ur neck, your knees and shoulder and pelvis, u can experience pain with every move u make. I am so sorry. I am Irish. We were always told to suck it up. I have MS and Lupus and a few other issues have evolved during the way. But, i have disability. That allows me to run a forum as my ministery for the God I serve. So, for that I am grateful. I get to meet people like you! Bless your heart, caramel. RE: HAS ANYONE TRIED DUROMINE?! - Rumor - 01-29-2017 Hi caramel, The Mexican version of phentermine, also known as Fentermina, comes in 2 forms. Actxion, which is instant release and the harder to find Acxion AP, which is extended release. I prefer the AP version. Which is probably what you are looking for, but nothing will compare to Dexedrine. Good wishes, Rumor RE: HAS ANYONE TRIED DUROMINE?! - caramel_barbi - 01-29-2017 (01-29-2017, 10:58 AM)Audrey Hepburn Wrote: Duromine is exactly the same thing as phentermine. Maybe not the old school stuff, but the same that you get in the US now. Although, I,might get a light speedy buzz from it, it is primarily an appetite suppresant and makes you lose weight bc you aren't hungry.Audrey Hepburn, Thank you, SO much for providing me with this information! You've pretty much touched on what my main concern was, and that was; does Duromine reduce your appetite?! Also, as it relates to making you feel "speedy", well, as slow as I've been moving these days, I could stand to speed up a bit!! If you've read ALL of my posts above, I mentioned that I'm currently taking both, Adderall and Dexedrine, so, of course I WON'T take those while I'm taking the Duromine. Thanks again; I appreciate you. (01-29-2017, 06:52 PM)Rumor Wrote: Hi caramel,Hi Rumor, Oh my goodness, I'd forgotten about the Acxion! I tried that a LONG time ago, and the only thing that it did for me-- was give me the worse migraine headache that I've EVER experienced in my life!! If I'm not mistaken, I even tried BOTH kinds. However, I'm glad to hear that you've had success in taking them. Thank you, for responding. I appreciate it!
RE: HAS ANYONE TRIED DUROMINE?! - nick222 - 02-04-2017 I took duromine for 3 months last year. Kills your appetite and gives you all the other physical effects of adderall... clenching teeth, dry mouth and racing heart with less of the mental clarity. Adderall greatly improved my confidence and mental clarity when I was prescribed it for treatment resistant depression but duromine stopped me from needing to eat at all. I was cooking the food the dietician recommended for me and then sitting down and staring at it. The idea of eating it made me want to turn away, no appetite whatsoever. |
