I posted a thread in who's got it relating to this looking for specific steroid creams for my teen who is currently having an eczema breakout on her face and it is really bothering her. I am also wanting to find out of there are other things she could be doing supplement wise and/or other lotions, cleansers, what have you, that may be over the counter, that might be helpful. Just normal dry skin lotion doesn't really cut it. Even though I am here in this forum I do try to use natural remedies when possible. I find a lot of stuff online but I'm more interested in hearing from people who have used things that have actually helped. Actual experience. I'm sure there is an allergic component to it, her dad does have moderate psoriasis. He manages the symptoms without scripted meds as he's taken so many over the years he has liver damage. That's another story.

for an OTC cream, cortizone works well. I always have it in my medicine cabinet.

Yep we have that. It really is for calming the itchiness but doesn't speed healing. She's actually gotten pretty good and keeping from scratching it too. Teenage girls and their faces. She's so worried of making it worse she can usually leave it alone.

So my little one developed REALLY REALLY mild Eczema on her tummy and her knees and a little on her cheeks..
Pedi recommended cetaphil, the stuff at costco has parabens and extra crap. I did some research, ended up getting something called SebaMed, for hair and for body wash. It is ph 5.5 same as normal skin. Also, has no fragrance or soap in it. Its really interesting product.
I highly recommend it.
I also would consider switching your laundry detergent to aomething like All Free and Clear, or any soap that doesnt have any dyes or frgrance. This can irritate skin.
Also, stop using dryer sheets!! It takes about 10 loads for the stuff off the sheets to get off your dryer..

Hey tov,
I will look for the sebamed. Mine had it all on her face as a baby. Mad you sad to look at her. Now interestingly, I already use dreft for all laundry. Towels, sheets, everything because of her dad's psoriasis. Tried the cheaper versions and he swore they didn't work as well. So that's covered. I think part of what aggravated hers this time is we have had some really cold days and some were also windy. Wind seems to really aggravate her face. She will also breakout just from touching grass or a plant and then her face.

Either way, she has to be diligent about applying lotion after baths/showers or just through out the day.
If dreft works, thats great! Things with lots of fragrance can irritate and flair up eczema in my experience.

I second exactly what tovictory says. Cetaphil wash/lotion only. My wife works in dermatology and that's all they recommend. Also agree with the detergents and dryer sheets. I won't use anything with dyes or scents for my baby and NEVER use dryer sheets. Does she wear makeup? That may be another trigger.
There is another lotion her office gives out specifically for eczema called Vanicream. Not sure if it's OTC or not but she got some for my nephew and it worked out well. Good luck!

That may be another trigger.Shogun, she does wear makeup but we've done a lot of researching and gotten things that are hypoallergenic. Interestingly, it has only shown up on her forehead recently. I will look up the vanicream and see what is in it. Maybe I can find something similar.

Hmmm, just on the forehead? Does she have bangs? Maybe her hair product rubbing off? Don't know. Just trying to think of anything it could be.
