Maybe “ ball of nerves” should have been my name :-) Aw. Well they do say, whatever you focus on, you get more of. I have found this to be true. Not to the point of denying reality, but focusing on positive things has definitely been beneficial to me and has opened up new possibilities in my life. When we're in chronic pain or are dealing with anxiety, stress, trauma, or whatever other issues people have on these boards, it's so important to treat ourselves kindly. Being positive about yourself and your life is part of that. Research has consistently proved that having a gratitude practice, for example, can improve people's happiness levels. I have chronic illness and pain and an overactive fight/flight/freeze response, and some days are better than others. I focus on those days, am grateful for them, and see if I can pinpoint anything I did differently that helped me. This helps me find solutions and reminds me that I'm not always as bad as my worst days. If I never thought about the good days, I wouldn't be alive now. And it is possible to be a ball of nerves AND be vibing happy. Anyone who has been on a date, ridden a rollercoaster, or challenged themselves for cause they care about can attest to that. Our conditions may limit us, and make it harder to thrive, but we can still find happiness; even if it's only in our internal world (which is where the Buddhists would say, happiness comes from anyway). Sending you happy vibes! K RE: Hi from the uk - Skink - 02-25-2023 (02-24-2023, 07:22 PM)Charon Wrote: mercy. i have missed a lively bunch in here. We miss you Charon,,, hope you are doing well!!! I lost my dog a few months ago so I started volunteering at a nursing home and I’m always smiling with the residence, because why not it makes their day, happier, and little by little I start to feel happier myself. What I would love to be all the time and somedays you get there and Somedays you don’t. but a positive outlook even when things are bad, can a provide some solace and reminder that things will get better ❤️ happy vibes to you on this snowy saturday !
