Raccoons are tough for sure...
Those rascals have been known to stand on a dog's
head in the creek till he drowns!! Old timers used to say
their teeth were hard enough to chip an ax blade,,'
That is an exaggeration, but it told me I didn't want
one to bite me... Having "hands" like they do, if they were to jump
on ya, they wouldn't get off till they wanted to...
Having said all that, I shot one up on Grand Pa's place that weighed
40 lbs! Dressed it out and smoked it on the pit... All my folks
said it was mighty fine eating ... Man was it!!!
Down here, all my people (here and Louisiana) eat most things
In a gumbo, smoked, fried...
But I don't do possoms....
They are the land buzzards

i hope to God he does not come back after harry. harry insists on playing the mating season games. I did not realize they were that tough.

I'm sure you've heard that they were "clean" animals cause they wash their food
before they eat it.... Truth is, they'll carp right next to where they "wash" it
only because they lack saliva glands and it helps with their digestion...
They are a funny bunch dem thar coons ....
