I'm so sorry for only reading the thread title and not reading your post in full, please disregard my above post as I can't edit it for some reason.

I didn't mean to be rude and I know it came across as that way due to me making assumptions. I hope this reply is more helpful to your concerns!

Generally when someone is suffering from physical pain or an ailment of that kind you want to seek out the red vein Kr@tom strains as they are known to have the best analgesic qualities. One strain in particular that is most potent if you get a good batch of it is Red Bali. It seems to have the highest opioid-esque effects out of any of the other red strains i've come across vs. a white or green strain that can have more of a stimulant effect. Two runners up are Red Borneo and Red Kali but by far Red Bali is the most analgesic imo.

Start her off with only a tiny dose(about a quarter gram or less) to test for allergic reactions or nausea. Once you establish her tolerability for it you will want to ramp the dose up to about 2 grams so she can get a feel for what its effects are like. For analgesic purposes you have to dose in the higher range usually (5-6 grams is a good ballpark estimate). Once she has a feel for it let her decide how best she would like to take it. For those with a sensitive stomach tea works best vs. something crude like toss & wash or mixing it with fruit juice as the plant matter doesn't mix into anything very well and the texture can make for a foul experience.

If she wants to start with tea, here's a simple recipe:

1) Measure out her regular dose of Kr@tom adding an extra gram for lost alkaloids that will get left behind when straining
2) Get a pot of water boiling on the stove and reduce to a simmer
3) Dump the Kr@tom in the simmering water and let the concoction simmer for 15-20 mins at the least
4) Get a clean t-shirt or similar piece of fabric and place it over an empty coffee mug slightly indenting the cloth before securing it around the mug with an elastic band
5) Slowly dump the Kr@tom over the fabric and let it all drain into the mug
6) Once you get to the last bit of water/Kr@tom sludge pour it onto the fabric and wait till it cools to the touch, then with clean hands squeeze the plant matter inside the fabric and into the mug ensuring you get as much of the alkaloids out of the plant matter as possible
7) Add some lemon and a hint of honey as this will help negate the bitterness if you wish

How effective the Kr@tom will be for her pain depends on her established tolerance to the heavier opioids/opiate pharmaceuticals shes been using most likely. It has a lot of painkilling potential but cross-tolerance has to be accounted for and someone who started on Kr@tom without having touched another opioid would get more immediate relief. I think if she slowly transitions from her conventional pain medicines to the Kr@tom it would work best and eventually the Kr@tom should be able to do the job in full.

Hope this reply was much more helpful!

I'm accustomed to kratom but I am having some debilitating liver disease and idk if it could be contributing but if it is?I wasn't taking it very often last summer when I fell ill.i had alot of pain in November and no pain relievers so I did take it probably 4 to times day, appx 1 teaspoon overfilled.i stopped a few days ago,,and I don't feel wierd or unwell,I don't feel anything bad..so it's good for people afraid of addiction, but not so good if your trying to find out what's killing your liver,,I also used to take diatomacious earth supplement last spring, summer,,I'm on a medicine premarin and I started it 1 yr ago and got sick in July,,maybee that's what's causing issues?

u cannot have grapefruitjuice on premarin. it will elevate levels and its serious. there are other posts at medical sites that premarin can bring on elevated liver levels.

i don't have enough understanding of liver problems to be any help. Has any professional diagnosed you with liver disease? Are they following up on treatment?

It could be a supplement u r taking. The TV ads for meds now state they can interact with herbal meds also.

Are you going back for more answers, justice?

Lots of great replies here already.
It is legal still but unfortunately maybe not for long, don't want to break any rules so
I can discuss my preferred vendor for quality and professionalism if given the go ahead...
There are three main types red, green and white and under each type are different strains.
Each strain has different effects such as mood enhancing, pain relief, relaxing, etc...
And each strain will have different effects depending on dose... ex. small dose is uplifting but  large dose can be sedating.
There will be a trail and error period for your friend to find the preferred strain and dosage.
If her need is immediate you may want to use something else while you are tinkering with kratom.
I like that kratom is found in nature and has been used for hundreds of years to treat all manner of ailments.
I hope your friend can quickly find relief.

I would also like to add, although this is a natural plant supplement, and generally considered safer than it's pharmaceutical cousins, there are many downsides that may come along with prolonged use. Many within the "k community" like tout this plant as a cure-all with no side effects, but in my experience the opposite is true. I used kratom to cease my previous use of o@iates (to much success), but quickly it became a daily ritual, much like coffee for some. After about 1 year of indulging daily, I experienced excessive weight gain, loss of muscle mass, adrenal fatigue, and my hair had thinned a considerable amount (no, not due to pattern baldness.)

Although the research is limited, there are numerous firsthand reports that this plant (when used for extended periods of time) can drastically lower testosterone levels, cause adrenal fatigue, and even hormonal imbalances. If you plan on drinking this leaf, please see and endocrinologist and have your hormones and testosterone monitored throughout. Kr@tom is by far a safer alternative to pharms, but I consider it a "soft-risk supplement", because in my case, it definitely affected me in BOTH good and bad ways. Just do your research. It can work miracles with kicking an o@iate habit, but it does not come without it's own mild risks.

Final word: I am not a doctor, I only speak on my own experience with 2+ years with this leaf, along along the anecdotal evidence shared by many others in the k-community.

Do you remember about how much you were taking daily?

I have seen it be a legitimate way to switch if your overall goal is to be free and clean from both substances...

For any of those who use or are interested in Kratom, there's a new documentary coming out about it soon, called Leaf of Faith. It is produced by Chris Bell who made his film debut with a documentary on steroids, then one on prescription pills after that. He himself is a huge advocate of Kratom because he used to be addicted to opiates and Kratom helped him stop. I believe he's a pretty fair filmmaker though and will not simply ignore any downsides to it. His film about steroids "Bigger Stronger Faster" was a lot more balanced than I would have imagined. His new film should be released in May this year, to Netflix I believe.
