RE: Alcohol - Zander - 12-11-2015 Here's the way I feel about it. RE: Alcohol - iNsom - 12-12-2015 Enjoying reading these responses folks :-) Ok, is this a canny coincidence? - I may have possibly and hopefully just came across something special! "may" "possibly" and "hopefully" being the operative words! Far too early to make any conclusions but let me explain, hopefully someone will have some input. Milk thistle!!! I'm sure most of you have heard of it. So my fiancé recently bought us a tub of milk thistle each. Ive briefly read about its alleged benefits before (improves liver function and helps protect the liver against alcohol damage, to name a couple) so for the last 3 days I've been taking the recommended 3000mg per day split into 3 - 1000mg doses. Last night was Friday so I decided to have a large bottle of Corona, that led to another large bottle of Corona. Cut a long story short...£100 later we were in the local at 1am waiting on our taxi, having consumed around 17-18 units (each) - I've drunk more, I've drunk less, either way I know it's not recommended. Ok now to get to the point, I had 1000mg MT before and after drinking.....and I feel absolutely fine today! No headache, no real lethargy, no 'fear', no hangover! Ok, maybe 10% of the hangover I would have expected. Not only that but going by the 1 unit per hour rule (for liver to process alcohol) - which seems to be the case for me as I have a reusable breathalyser which lets me know how quickly my body is ridding the alcohol, I shouldn't be alcohol free until around 14:00 (20:00 last night + 18 units = 14:00 today) and to my surprise I just breathalysed myself (it's 10:55) and I'm under the drink driving limit! - which is about 1 unit. So, yeah.... Anyone else ever tried/ currently use MT? RE: Alcohol - MCS1964 - 12-15-2015 I'm a big fan of micro-brews. Lots of small breweries sprouting up in my area. Lot's of wineries as well. Starting to enjoy wine more but I love a good IPA. MCS RE: Alcohol - Nonoo - 12-16-2015 The demon drink as my grandmother called it. She was a simple woman lived. Through two wws. And even do she was a god fearing catholic married to a whiskey and Guinness drinker she said it could make the deaf talk. As a child listening to her proverbs. I now know she ment it would cause people to say thing they wouldn't normally say. It is a dangerous drug 90% of people don't realise how dangerous it is a. Makes couples beat each other its also great for pro creation. it makes couples frisky. Drink a bottle of hennessy with your partner and let the brandy make you r...y. Anyway ranting now some great times while out drinking some misery drinking on your own tonight. It can remove everything good in your life. Iv lost a couple of mates not friends. To alcohol. So now i keep it to a minimum. One thing guaranteed alcohol Will always get peoples opinions RE: Alcohol - luvhandles - 01-26-2016 (11-21-2015, 05:00 PM)Ivortheenginedriver Wrote: I used to enjoy social drinking a lot until I had a family, now it is rare. Unfortunately I also have a close loved one who is an alcoholic, and my father was an alcoholic most of my life, and that has turned me off of drinking a bit too.  So while I enjoy social drinking, beer, maybe some shots on a special occasion, taking care of a drunk loved one and trying to get her off of the sauce (which is one of the things that brought me to sites like this) has unfortunately soured me on it I do have to say if it wasn't for drinking I would have never met my wife and had my kids, who are the only good thing in my life, but then again since our relationship started off in bars it might explain why our marriage sucks most of the time. Hope that wasn't all too off topic. And yes, when I went out to drink it always ended up costing a lot more than I meant for it too. Once the good times start rolling its hard to stop them, cant count the times in my younger years that I went out for a beer with friends and ended up broke. I always found the best hangover cure for me was MJ in the morning, water and Tylenol the night before. but since the brain processes  Benzos and Alcohol so similarly, Diazepam makes sense as a hangover cure. Just be careful, drink lots of water, don't start drinking alone, and as long as your talking about pints of brew and not whiskey I am sure you will be fine.  Sorry for the long post, hope it was not too off topic. Well you know in the US its more money for addiction clinics, medical field and pharmacies to profit from esophageal erosions, ulcers, liver disease, gall bladder problems then some other potential alternatives...God bless the globalist Elite and yes a cold brew can be damn good! RE: Alcohol - MaltoseFalcon - 01-27-2016 I have been known to frequently indulge in some light drinking. I really don't enjoy overindulging, but I do enjoy the taste of a nice drink or two. RE: Alcohol - iNsom - 01-27-2016 Great post Breacher! A really interesting read and although I'm only in my 30's (just) I feel I can relate to, (or at least definitely understand) how you feel. I sometimes turn to drink in the weekday evenings for one (or a mix) of the following 3 reasons: 1. After a s**t day in the office ... in my computer job 2. To avoid anxiety 3. To guarantee a 7+ hour sleep. RE: Alcohol - iNsom - 01-30-2016 Breacher, 1st of all, much respect! Great post! Since you told your age I'll tell you mine. I'm 30. I don't know what it is.....your words? Your story? The way you portray it? I feel like .....  think I ..... How do I word this...... I feel like I'm on the EXACT same path as you. I even have Thai family and Thailand is my favourite country. I want to move there! I love their pharmacys :-) Now, it's not the Thai thing (regarding how I feel about your above post) that makes the connection, II just genuinely think I'm on your path (in a good way, if you will) It's the 10 hour days, it's the "working for the bigger person" it's the fact that I also worry about my liver, it's that I also believe the grass is greener (seems You seem to have done it ve done it?  And it wasn't your ideal/ expected outcome? Man I feel like I'm blabbing. I'd like to conclude my post but guess what?.....it's midnight, I'm tipsy and I'm looking at flights to abroad. Have a great weekend! ^sorry about the typos. RE: Alcohol - iNsom - 02-01-2016 Another great post Breacher. I've done some travelling and met travellers along the way. It's a 24/7 party with them and it's easy (because it's enjoyable) to follow in their footsteps and ''Get f****d up and go mental' ...  Kinda idea. Sounds like you have a plan, ambitions ... Sounds like you know what you're going to do. Don't be so hard on yourself, were in the same boat in a lot of ways. ![]() BTW I don't know if you are being hard on yourself or (/and?) just being realistic. What I mean is, if you are ever hard on yourself then don't be. easier said than done tho. RE: Alcohol - Kdizz - 02-02-2016 Did you hear that they might be lowering the alcohol level in nj to .05... Theses people are trying to control everything we do. That would mean most people couldn't have one drink while going out to dinner it's bull shit |
